With a sense of social responsibility, we develop contemporary, sustainable living spaces, putting people at the centre of all we develop. Our goal is to create liveable and inspiring spaces that meet the needs and desires of people from different social and economic backgrounds. To this end we tap into the synergies arising from an integrative and harmoniously interconnected approach that combines architecture, art and nature.

As a humanistic art form, architecture is the continuation of nature’s constructive activity.

Karl Friedrich Schinkel

Artprojekt was founded by Thomas Hölzel in Munich in 1985, and the firm has been headquartered in Berlin since 1997. To this day the company’s guiding principle has been our unique approach to creating attractive spaces for living and working – with ambitious architecture, creatively designed outdoor and natural spaces, always with a substantial integration of contemporary art. In line with this philosophy we create residential, loft and commercial projects, a number of which – even the earliest examples – have won awards.

Since 2015, we have pursued this symbiosis of architecture, art, and nature with the aim of creating the highest standards of residential living and overnight stays, applying it also to the development of exceptional, owner-operated, and artistically curated hotels and restaurants. Here, too, we wish to convince, captivate and inspire with our outstanding architectural concepts that fuse a high level of unique characteristics with distinctive design.

In order to ensure these demanding quality standards are enshrined in every new project, Artprojekt engages renowned architects, contemporary artists and experienced curators, who are coordinated and supported by our large team of around thirty employees.

Building upon a commercial foundation of successful projects with a development volume of some two billion euros to date, Artprojekt’s work focuses on integrating aspects of urban planning, culture and social issues with an interdisciplinary approach to project-related expertise and cooperation. In these times we must rise to the challenge of proactively integrating the needs arising from social responsibility in the design and planning of building projects, creating affordable living space, and developing new platforms for work or studio space for the new generation of artists.
